Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 11, 2026

Introduction

Siftly ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and web service.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Name
  • Password (encrypted)

Connected Account Data

When you connect third-party accounts (RSS feeds, podcasts, newsletters, social media), we collect:

  • Account names and handles
  • Content from your connected sources (articles, posts, episodes)
  • Authentication credentials (stored securely)

Email Account Data (Gmail and Outlook)

If you connect a Gmail or Outlook account, we access only the email messages needed to build your digests: messages from the newsletter senders you explicitly select. We collect:

  • Sender names and addresses of detected newsletters
  • Subject lines and content of emails from your selected senders
  • OAuth tokens to access your mailbox (stored encrypted)

We never send email from your account, never share your email content with third parties, and never use it for advertising. Our use of Google user data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. You can disconnect an email account at any time, which stops all access.

Push Notification Data

If you enable notifications, we store a device push token so we can tell you when a digest is ready. The token is deleted when you sign out or delete your account.

Usage and Analytics Data

Only if you agree(when you set up Siftly, or later in You → Help improve Siftly), we use PostHog for analytics to improve our service. PostHog may collect:

  • Device information (type, operating system, app version)
  • Usage patterns (screens viewed, features used, session duration, and counts such as how many sources you have)
  • Performance data (crashes, errors, load times)
  • Your Siftly account ID, never your name or email

It never receives what you read, the names of your sources, or anything you type.

With that same agreement, Siftly may also record how the app is used as a screen recording in which all text and all images are hidden, so it shows the layout of the screens and where you tapped, never what you read or typed; like the rest of analytics it is filed under your Siftly account ID, never your name or email, and it stops when you turn off You → Help improve Siftly.

While you set up Siftly, we also count anonymously which setup screens are reached and how setup ends (for example how many sources were added). These counts carry no identifier, store nothing on your device, and cannot be linked to you.

Whatever you choose, if Siftly crashes or runs into an error we send PostHog a crash or error report so we can fix it: the type of error, its message and where in the code it happened, the app version, and your device model and operating system. It carries no account details and nothing about what you read; if you have said yes to analytics it is filed under your Siftly account ID, otherwise it is anonymous.

If you tell us why you cancelled Siftly Pro, your answer (the option you pick and anything you type) is sent to PostHog so we can improve Siftly. It is linked to your Siftly account only if you have said yes to analytics; otherwise it is sent without any identifier.

To write the short note at the top of a delivery, and chapters for some podcast episodes, Siftly sends the titles and short excerpts of those items through OpenRouter to Anthropic’s Claude model. No account details, email or reading history are sent, and the note is kept only with that delivery. We record technical details of each of these model calls in PostHog (which feature asked, the model, token counts, response time, errors and cost) for monitoring; the text sent to or returned by the model is never recorded, and the record is not linked to your account.

On our website (siftly.space) we use PostHog for cookieless analytics. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device; PostHog derives a salted daily hash from your IP address, browser and the site, so visits are counted without identifying you across days. We record which pages are viewed, where visitors come from (including campaign tags in the link) and clicks on the App Store button, and nothing else.

Install Attribution (Adapty and AppsFlyer)

Only if you allow tracking(on iPhone, when iOS asks or later in iOS Settings; on Android, when Siftly asks or later in You → Allow tracking), Adapty measures which advertising campaign led you to install Siftly. To do this it matches the install to an ad click using your IP address, device type and operating system, device language and country, and links the result to your subscription events. Adapty may report those events (an install, a trial, a purchase) to the ad network that showed you the ad, such as Meta, Google or TikTok, so it can measure the campaign. Without your permission, none of this happens.

With that same permission, and only then, we also use AppsFlyerfor the same purpose. AppsFlyer receives your device’s advertising identifier and IP address, device type and operating system, and your Siftly account ID (never your name or email), matches the install to an ad click, and receives the install, trial and subscription events that belong to it (the subscription events come from Adapty). AppsFlyer may share those events with the ad network that showed you the ad. Without your permission, AppsFlyer does not run at all. AppsFlyer’s privacy policy is available at appsflyer.com/legal/services-privacy-policy.

You can turn analytics and tracking off at any time: analytics in You → Help improve Siftly; tracking in iOS Settings on iPhone, or You → Allow tracking on Android.

Purchase and Subscription Data

We use Adapty to manage in-app purchases and subscriptions. Adapty collects:

  • Purchase history and subscription status
  • App Store or Google Play receipt data
  • Device and app identifiers

Adapty's privacy policy is available at adapty.io/privacy.

Adapty also sends subscription events (such as a trial starting, a renewal, a cancellation or a refund, with the product and price) to PostHog under your Siftly account ID, so that we can understand how subscriptions perform. These events are sent from Adapty’s servers for every subscriber, so the in-app analytics opt-out does not cover them. They contain no content you read or follow.

If you answer the short questionnaire at the end of setup (for example, how you feel after scrolling, or how many catch-ups a day suit you), your answers are saved to your Adapty profile, so that we can tailor what Siftly offers you. The first name you type into it is not saved. Your answers are deleted with your account.
